The Palomino community is the area around 32nd Street and Greenway in Phoenix. This is one of the areas with the highest density of poverty in Phoenix, Arizona. It is primarily Hispanic and there are a large number of single moms. There is also a very large population kids. There are many obstacles for these families to overcome. Our goal is to inspire and empower teens in Palomino to have HOPE and direction for their future. We want to dare them to DREAM. We build relationships with the families and when needed find specific opportunities to give a hand up. We empower them by linking them to the specific resources and/or information that the family can use to better their future. Our focus is working specifically with the teens in the community through an adventure club that provides a safe place for teens to try new experiences that give them a glance at how life can be for them. We build relationships with them that allow us to challenge their thinking. We work with teens because they are at a stage in life where they are making important decisions that will shape their future. We believe that helping the family is one of the best things we can do to help provide hope for the kids and allow them to be the best they can be. There are some really sharp, talented and hardworking teens that with just the slightest encouragement can go on to be amazing contributors to our community. Please consider helping us as we work at breaking the cycle of poverty in this area and giving HOPE to these kids.
