Resiliency Matters

You can make a difference with a tax credit eligible gift to the Glendale Youth Center. An individual can contribute up to $400 and a couple can contribute up to $800. This credit works exactly the same as the AZ Private School Tuition Tax Credit and is 100% refundable on your AZ state taxes. We urge you to act now to help us plan the number of kids we can support and the programs we can offer in 2018.Resiliency Matters, a Partners In Action subordinate, provides a wide array of programs at the Glendale Youth Center.    Located in what is known as the Heart of Glendale, the community is south of Glendale Avenue and between 57th and 51st Avenues.  It is located in Zip Code 85301 – the poorest zip code in Glendale, AZ.  This neighborhood is home to about 95% of minority residences, 90% of which are living below the poverty level.

The Glendale Youth Center offers programs to the youth of this community. After school the youth center provides a well-balanced snack provided by St. Mary’s food bank and kids receive help to get their homework done. Kids can then participate in free play, basketball, volleyball, or hip-hop dance.  Summer programs will include soccer, baseball, and softball.

The Glendale Youth Center plays a vital role in this community. Many of the kids coming into our center do not have adult supervision because their parent/guardians are working. Many kids are being raised by their grandparents, who have a difficult time helping their grandchildren with their homework.  The Center also provides sports programs for kids who could not otherwise afford to participate in sports. We also work with the neighborhood schools and provide proven programs that build resiliency, and literacy in our students who are our future. Statistics show that if students gain resiliency they improve in Math, English, and Science. We work with students in the elementary schools and high schools. Help us break through the cycle of poverty, and build our future leaders.
