Jerry Bowman

Jerry Bowman

Executive Director and CEO

Jerry is the CEO of PIA. He has more than 40 years experience owning and running companies from retail to manufacturing, from start up to $200 million in revenue. Jerry pioneered the big box store rental and retail movie business in the early 80s and the scrapbook industry in the early 2000s. In 2006 Jerry founded nonprofit ministry Christian Missions and Outreach to develop and fund Fundacion Emmanuel in Gudadlajara, Mexico. Today the ministry includes three orphanages and is ministering in 9 prisons. Jerry was previously an Elder at North Ridge Community Church and is currently serving in leadership at Wellspring Church in Goodyear, AZ.

Jerry became a member of Partners in Action in 2006 bringing his ministry Christian Missions and Outreach (CMO) under the PIA umbrella. For the next five years he continued to lead CMO while becoming more active in PIA overall. In 2012 he assumed the role of Executive Director and CEO.

As Executive Director Jerry has led a major change in PIA strategy – the move to sustainable business partnerships that will raise the economies in countries that PIA serves. In bringing this change to the organization Jerry has positioned PIA to make a real difference in underdeveloped areas across the globe.

Director of Operations

Heather is currently the longest serving member of PIA having joined in 2011. During this time, she has had the privilege of cultivating great relationships with our ministry partners and donors, while providing oversight and support. She manages finance, accounting and daily administrative functions. She loves coming to work each day and being part of such a great team. Her heart for ministry is apparent to all who meet her.

Jean Bowman

Director of International Projects

Jean joined PIA in early 2017 after a long career in technology-oriented leadership roles. She is excited for the the opportunity to move from the corporate world to supporting people in need. As Director of International Projects her role is to work with PIA Ministry partners to develop and implement sustainability projects. Her expertise in project planning and budgeting will enable PIA partners to create both organizational and project budgets and determine the needs for successful project execution. Her implementation ability will be critical to PIA’s success in moving sustainability projects forward.

Jean holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Brandeis University and a Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University.

She takes a lead role in event planning and execution and also supports PIA’s social media presence. Kathy is versatile and tackles many diverse tasks to keep everything we do at PIA running smoothly. Kathy’s warm personality and the joy she finds in supporting the PIA mission are appreciated by everyone that enters the PIA office. Kathy joined PIA in 2014.

Donna brings to PIA a heart for the underserved and years of building alliances. She is focused on developing strategic partnerships to bring added resources and accelerate venture projects. Finding alignment and building strong relationships is a critical component to PIA’s success. Whether to sustain communities with high-value crops, poultry, faith or repeatable models for Community Centers, Donna will lead the effort to evaluate and enable strategic partners to improve the communities we serve. Donna has been associated with PIA since in 2013.

Grant Sardachuk

Chairman of the Board, Managing Partner of Wild Rose Investments, LLLP

Grant is currently the Managing Partner of Wild Rose Investments, LLLP and its affiliated Canadian company, Centurion Holdings a Canada based family owned real estate merchant banking company. He has been involved in numerous businesses and investments, with a particular emphasis on the real estate industry. Grant has taken an active role in several investee companies, both as a member of the board of directors and as a consultant or interim executive. The Sardachuk family is a strong and passionate supporter of the work of the Christian church and particularly engaged in the ministry and mission of McDowell Mountain Community Church. The Sardachuk family has been actively supporting financially and spiritually mission works in the Phoenix area (as well as other parts of the U.S.) and in Mexico and Ukraine. Grant has been married for 37 years to Shelagh and they have one daughter, Christy (married to Michael Fay), and four grandchildren (Oliver, Wesley, Crosby and Abby).

Ken Herfurth

Ken has over 25 years of executive leadership expertise creating, leading and executing integrated business models, comprehensive financial and legal structures, business transformations, growth strategies, and M&A activity across multiple industries including entertainment, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, retail, banking, construction/real estate, technology, medical and technical engineering. He is a leader in building social entrepreneurship organizations primarily focused in technology, healthcare, and entertainment related opportunities serving multiple digital, interactive, film and other media companies. Ken is a founding partner in Performance Edge Partners, a small boutique funding and business growth company. Most recently, Ken participated in the launching of iDonate and facilitated the growth process of StoredIQ including the eventual exit to IBM. He has primarily focused on private and venture equity projects completing multiple transactions. Ken received his Bachelor of Material Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1996 and an MBA from University of St. Thomas in 2001.

Curt Hensley

Curt is the founder and CEO of 4 companies that have enabled the funding of some incredible ministry opportunities. Two of these companies are in Recruiting, one is in Mergers and Acquisitions, and the other is in Real Estate. It’s been Curt’s honor to serve on the board of Campus Crusade for Christ’s Jesus Film Project for the past 6 years where he is now vice chair, as well as serving on the board of Partners in Action and the missions board at Maranatha Chapel in San Diego. God blessed Curt with a wonderful wife, Erin, as well as three children – Riley (12-year-old daughter), Jackson (10-year-old son), and Reese (5-year-old daughter).

Robert Kennedy

Rob provides fractional CFO services to startup and small businesses. He is a senior finance executive with substantial experience both as a venture capitalist and as an entrepreneur and possesses a unique experience that includes entrepreneurism, private equity/venture capital, business development, M&A, finance, operations, and board experience. Rob and his wife, Peggy, who have been married 41 years, have 3 sons and 3 grandsons and enjoy serving their local church.

Donna Kent

Donna is a veteran business builder with vision. An executive with Xerox Corporation, SVP of Televerde – a transformational business for women in prison, President and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council and most recently COO of two disruptive legal innovation businesses, she has a heart for the underserved. As PIA’s Board Chair and African Venture Liaison, she keeps her eyes on people, process, and technology to develop and implement business strategies to grow sustainable ventures. Donna concentrates on board business, strategic partnerships and assessing the viability of sustainable projects to lift communities locally and around the globe. Donna’s church family is Scottsdale Bible Church and serves on both the Music Ministry and the Global Outreach Task Force.

Gwen Martinez

President, Baobridge LLC

Gwen is the founder of Baobridge, an agency that supports social entrepreneurial approaches to address poverty. Originally from Zambia, Gwen has over 30 years experience working in Africa, Europe and the U.S. leading new ventures from concept to sustainability. She now assists projects focused on delivering solutions to food security, affordable goods and services, health, water, housing and energy. The goal of Baobridge is to stimulate sustainable ventures financed through philanthropic capital to create market oriented approaches that improve livelihoods for communities in rural areas. Prior to Baobridge, Gwen worked with her husband Rudy in their business Shade ‘N Net, the largest privately-owned manufacturer of cable tensioned shade systems in the South West United States. Rudy and Gwen have four children and seven grandchildren. They attend Christ Church of the Valley and spend their leisure time biking and traveling.

Anthony Pacheco

Co-Founder and Business Development Director

Anthony grew up in North Dallas Texas, after a successful start to his entrepreneur career his family heard the call to give it all up and start again in Arizona. Follow His voice, The Pacheco’s relocated from McKinney Texas to Litchfield Park where they helped to start Wellspring Church. Anthony runs the Men’s Ministry and has lead multiple community groups with discipleship as the foundation. Anthony relaunched his practice and is currently the Co-Founder and Business Development Director for P13:11 Partnerships a Faith Based Business Solutions Practice. Here Community, Partnerships and Relationships are the foundation of his belief system as Christ gave this example to follow. We all know that Behind every great man is a Proverbs 31 wife and Nicki his spouse is no exception. They are the proud parents of 3 boys and 2 girls. Blending a family through a foster to adopt program the Pacheco Family gained great insight to the meaning of being adopted into God’s forever Family.

Rodney Wacker

Rod is an Arizona native and has been involved for over 40 years in the Phoenix business community.  His business experience includes public accounting, manufacturing, construction, dealership operations, and management consulting.  Currently Rod owns Celestial Care, an in-home private duty nursing company that serves the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.  He and his wife, Jennifer, have three daughters and two granddaughters and attend Christ Church of the Valley.

Marla Webb

Founder and President, The Cambrian Companies

Marla has been an educator, consultant, and entrepreneur in several endeavors during her business career beginning in the mid-1970’s. Her emphasis has been on commercial and residential real estate portfolios managed and marketed for large government entities by companies with national contracts. Since 2002, as a director on non-profit boards, Marla has enthusiastically supported the cause of Christ in sub-Saharan African countries by promoting awareness, travel, hands-on ministries, and self-sustainable projects focused on helping needy men, women, and children to realize their full potential. While investing time, expertise, strategic financial support, and loving care, Marla has seen incredible people associated with agricultural projects, schools, medical clinics, wildlife conservation efforts, orphanages, small-scale businesses, and even entire communities find their own unique strengths to live out God’s purposes for their lives. As a minister of the gospel, Bible teacher, and mentor, Marla brings messages of hope to the incarcerated in prisons in her area of North Carolina and in seminars, retreats, and other meetings of Christians in the U.S. and globally. Her supportive family includes precious husband Bill, three sons and one daughter and their spouses, and ten fabulous grandchildren.

Dr. Lori Wieters, MBA, PhD

Industrial/Organizational Psychologist

Dr. Lori has been partnering with organizational leaders to create effective and efficient work environments for more than 15 years. Her experience includes executive, leader and team coaching and development, driving large organizational change initiatives, strategic planning, training and curriculum development, project planning and deployment, designing and aligning people-centered organizational cultures, development of performance competencies and metrics, off-site facilitation for large groups, and validity studies using human analytic data related to retention and performance. While at American Express, Dr. Lori gained global leadership development experience. In her last organizational position, she was the head of Leadership Development for a mid-size health care organization. She collaborated, crafted, and deployed an executive/leadership development program. In 2010, she opened her private practice and works with her daughter, Kaleigh. Dr. Lori is a faculty member and researcher at Grand Canyon University. She has been married for 30 years to Steve and they have three children and six grandchildren.

Curt Cluff

PIA Emmeritus Board Member, Founder of Partners in Action

Curt graduated from the University of Lavern, California with a degree in business administration. He is a licensed real estate broker, member of the state board of realtors, international certified appraiser and senior member of the international organization The Real Estate Appraisers. He has years of experience in real estate, construction and redevelopment. Curt founded Partners in Action in 1986 and was president in CEO until 2013. He has 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Rick Ueable

PIA Emeritus Board Member, Owner/CEO of Foods 2000, Inc.

Rick is the co-founder, owner and CEO of Foods 2000, Inc. which operates forty-five Subway restaurants across Arizona. Nationally he has served on the board for the Independent Purchasing Cooperative for Subway since 2000. Rick, who travels multiple times a year to Africa, serves as the PIA representative on the Bulembu Board. Bulembu is a 4,300-acre abandoned mining town in Swaziland that has been transformed into a growing town to include an orphanage for hundreds of children. Rick also serves on several boards; Mission Create, Two Nine Foods Group (Zambia) and the Phoenix Police Department. In his spare time, Rick enjoys weight lifting, hiking and spending time with his two daughters.
