Can I communicate directly with an orphanage or child that I support?
We encourage communication with the children as well as to the homes in general. For many of the orphanages, we allow the sponsors to contact them directly. Other times, it's better for us to facilitate the communication for you. The best way to correspond is either regular mail or email. Contact PIA for further information.
Can I send letters or gifts to my child?
In general, we encourage sending letters to the children or the homes. We caution you to be careful with the tone and content of any communication due to cultural and social differences between you and the children. As far as sending gifts, we recommend that you don't send them. Sometimes gifts can cause jealously among the children and it can create an unsafe and volatile situation. This also applies to monetary gifts. We also recommend if you send a picture or letter, you take the time to get it laminated so it will last longer.
Can I visit a home or child that I support?
Many donors have had the opportunity to visit the homes and they rave about the experience. If you are interested in planning a trip, please contact PIA.
