Located approximately 700km north-west of Bangkok, and set at an elevation of around 300 metres, Chiang Mai is Thailand's second largest city.
The old part of the city is a neat square surrounded by a moat. During most of the year, thanks to its altitude, Chiang Mai is less humid and much cooler than other areas of the country.
Hinayana Buddhism is the National Religion of Thailand, but there is total religious freedom and all are protected by the constitution. Buddhism is the faith of 95% of the population while 4% are Muslims and 0.5% Christian. The remaining 0.5% is made up of Hindu, Sikhs and other religions. Despite the fact that Buddhism is the faith of majority, both the King & the Government uphold and support all the religions accepted by the people.

In the Fall of 2006, the House of New Hope opened it’s doors with the first residents moving in with our staff. By the end of the first week we had 1 pregnant teenager and 2 young mothers with infant children. The home now has 7 young ladies and 6 babies, with 1 baby due at the end of May.
Alongside of the Residential Program we offer Continued Education, Vocational Training & Work Experience. We are also in the process of starting a micro-enterprise and plan to continue to set up other small businesses. We are looking at property and praying for finances to enable us to purchase and build a permanent facility that will encompass the vision the Lord has given us.
